The Maryland Division – United Daughters of the Confederacy
Historical – Educational – Benevolent-Memorial – Patriotic
Within the Maryland Division, there are five active chapters across the state of Maryland:
Ellicott City, Frederick, Bel Air, Baltimore, and Annapolis.
We are a historic lineage organization of women united by ancestry, service, and purpose. Founded in 1894 and incorporated in 1919, the women of the UDC are as dedicated as their founders were to honoring the memory of those who served and sacrificed during the War Between the States. We focus on the service of Confederate veterans, not the government that sent them to war.
We recognize that our organization’s history is complex and, at times, misunderstood. We’re committed to teaching this history with mutual respect and serving with integrity and purpose. We represent diverse backgrounds, as diverse as the men who served in defense of the South.
Through community projects, scholarships, and support for veterans, we strive to leave a positive mark -one grounded in reflection of the past while looking towards the future.
